Book Courtship Tag

Hi there,
So I just finished Dreams of Gods and Monsters, the final book in Laini Taylor’s amazing trilogy. There will be a booktalk coming to you for that one but for now I thought I’d do the book courtship tag, originally created by a youtuber by the name of LovelyLikeLaura. Alright so lets jump right in.

Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?
I’ll have to go with Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell for this one. I had heard some good reviews of it but primarily what attracted me was the gorgeous cover.

Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary?
Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Page. The description on the back is: “Remove the Tin Woodman’s Heart, Steal the Scarecrow’s Brain, Take the Lion’s Courage and then Dorothy Must Die”. I mean how amazing is that!

Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?
The Storyteller by Jodi Piccoult. It is about the Holocaust and the lasting effects it had on decedents after and it was just written beautifully. The sections written from the perspective of someone in the Concentration Camp made me feel like I was really there, I could smell the smoke and feel the hunger. It is one of the most amazingly written books I’ve ever read.

Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?
Definitely Divergent by Veronica Roth. It was the best book in the series and it gave me almost a need to read the rest in the series. So I did.

Phase 5 – Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?
The only book that kept me up later than I probably should have been was Allegiant the third and final book in the Divergent trilogy. It was getting so intense and you all know how it ends, so I just had to keep reading.

Phase 6 – Always on my mind: A book you could not stop thinking about?
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. Particularly the first book in the trilogy.  It just blew my mind and I thought about for a long while once I’d finished reading it.

Phase 7 – Getting Physical: A book which you love the way it feels?
A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin. I assume you all know what Game of Thrones is and this is the second book in the series. It has a crown on the cover and all the ridges can be felt and it is just amazing!

Phase 8 – Meeting the parents: A book which you would recomend to your family and friends?
Harry Potter by J.K.Rowling, definitely. I think everyone will find something enjoyable in this series, whether it be the magic, the characters or the overall plot.
Phase 9 – Thinking about the future: A book or series you know you will re read many times in the future?
I know I’ll pick up Harry Potter again at some point in my life. I’ll also probably end up re-reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone, The Fault in Our Stars and The Mortal Instruments. All are books that I fell in love with the story line and had a really deep connection to the characters involved.
Phase 10 – Share the love: Who do you tag?
For this I tag:

Thanks for reading I hope you enjoyed it and I’ll see you soon for my booktalk.

Readers Quiz

Hi there,
So I was tagged in the readers quiz by FangirlsForTheWin. You should all go check out her blog it is amazing. Alright so this quiz tag thing is basically just book based questions. So lets get right into it.

1) Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I like to read on my bed because I have this specific backrest thingo that’s made to be used when reading. It is really awesome so I like to read there.

2) Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Bookmark definitely. I have a really awesome Harry Potter one and I have one that my friend got me from Thailand. You can get really cool designs on bookmarks, not so much with a piece of paper.

3) Can you stop reading any time you like or do you have to read at a certain part, chapter etc.?
I usually stop reading at the end of a chapter but I can stop anyway in a book.

4) Do you eat or drink while reading?
Sometimes I’ll have some water but I never eat because I don’t want to get food on my book.

5) Can you read while listening to music/watching TV?
I can’t watch TV while I’m reading because my eyes are drawn to the screen too much but I can listen to music and I generally do.

6) One book at a time or several at once?
Always one book at a time. The stories get too muddled up in my head and I can’t concentrate as well on one story or group of characters. I feel like reading more than one can reduce the amount you’ve enjoyed the book.

7) Reading at home or everywhere?
I usually read at home but I can read basically anywhere. I often read in the car or on planes are well.

8) Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Definitely silently in my head. My eyes scan the page and my brain reads a lot faster than I can get the words out so I end up stumbling over my words unless I’m purposely moving slowly.

9) Do you read ahead or skip pages?
No never, not even on a re-read. I’ll always read from cover to cover.

10) Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
I always keep it new, I’ve never once ruined the spine of a book or creased the pages or anything. It makes me cringe.

11) Do you write in books?
No never, I never have the need to. If I need to make notes for a booktalk I’ll get a separate piece of paper.

Alright so that is it for the Readers Quiz tag thing. I tag BeccaandBooks and UnravellingPages.

My March wrap-up and April TBR

Hi there,
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while but I’ve been pretty busy as of late. Today I thought I’d share my March wrap-up and my April TBR. I’ve never done either of these before but I read a lot of books in March and I feel like a TBR pile would make me read more because I am basically Monica from FRIENDS, in that, I am in competition even with myself. Alright so lets jump right into to the stack of books I read in March.

March Wrap-up

1) Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
I read the first two books in this series in March and there are no words to describe how I felt about it. It was the most incredible two books and I had so much fun delving into the characters lives and discovering so much about this amazing world. The third book should be at my door this month and I am so excited to finish the series!

Days of Blood and Starlight: * * * * *

2) The Duff by Kody Keplinger
To be honest I picked this up because I like to read the book before I watch the film and I really wanted to watch the film. I liked it a fair amount but it wasn’t my absolute favourite. The story seems to be more adapted for the film so I think I’ll enjoy that more.

3) The Iron Trial by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black
I had anticipated this book for a while and I did really enjoy it actually. It started off a little slow but grew to be more exciting. The main complaint I have is that the plot twist at the end (don’t worry I won’t spoil it) did not seem believable to me in any way, shape or form. I was trying to grab onto tethers of sense that made this seem possible and I simply couldn’t. Other than that it was a really fast and easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

4) An Abundance of Katherines by John Green
This is one of the last John Green books I had to read and after owning it for more than a year I finally got round to it. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. People say that this book is terrible and the worst of John Green’s and while his other books did outshine it, it wasn’t by much. I found Lindsey more likely than both Margo and Alaska and the two boys were fun characters to read about.

5) Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This book reminded me so much of the Vampire Academy series. It felt so similar in so many ways but I did really like it. Aiden was a really interesting (and hot) character and I loved getting to know him more. Alex was really frustrating and her naivety just pushed me beyond the edge of sanity sometimes. I’m hoping her temperament will improve during the rest of the series. It was a really fun and fast-paced book though.

6) Legend by Marie Lu
This was one big roller-coaster of awesome that just kept smacking me in the face with plot twists. It was an insane ride and I loved every minute of it. It was so unique and intriguing to read from the perspective of two people on opposite sides of the war. It may you see how people were so easily manipulated and molded by decisions their seniors had made. I really loved the story and the character development between both Day and June was really intense and well written. I really enjoyed this book.

April TBR
My TBR for this month is rather short because the holidays are coming up and I never get much time to read. Alright so here is my TBR for this month.

1) Prodigy by Marie Lu
I began reading this on the first and STILL haven’t finished it because of my crazy schedule. I’m hoping to finish it by the end of this week though.

2) Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
I brought this online a couple of weeks ago so it should be coming sometime this week and I am definitely going to read this book this month.

3) World After by Susanne Ee
This is the second book in the Angelfall series and I still haven’t been able to get my hands on it. I’m hoping to this weekend and if not then I’ll just get it on my ebook. Either way I am reading this.

4) Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Mass
This is the second book in the Thrones of Glass series and I need to read it because I am so late aboard this train. More books are being released and I just need to read it.

Alright so that is it for my March wrap-up and my April TBR. I hope you enjoyed reading it and maybe pick up some of the books I read in March.
